December 18, 2020: Studying Hamadori reconstruction.

  As our monthly group study, we had a day tour studying the latest reconstruction among March 11th, 2011 triple disaster hit area, or Hamadori region. In the morning, we stopped at Nuclear Disaster Memorial Museum in Futaba Town. The town was hardest hit by Tepco’s nuclear plant accident. Memories and lessons were packed inside the museum with displays of the facts at the time. In the afternoon, we moved to Fukushima Robot Test Field in Minamisoma City, which is a large-scale test facility for robots and drones’ development mainly focused on disaster and infrastructure related operation. The area was devasted by tsunami at the time with many victims and property losses. In order to revitalize the area, the facility was built by national and local governments.

2020年12月18日: 浜通り被災地の今を知る。

  会の月例会として、浜通りの復興の状況を巡りました。午前中は、双葉町の東日本大震災・原子力災害伝承館を訪問しました。双葉町は、原発事故の影響を最も受けたエリアで、館内には当時の事実や教訓が数多く展示されています。午後は、南相馬市萱浜地区の福島ロボットテストフィールドを訪問しました。ここは、インフラや災害関連のロボットやドローンを試験する大規模な施設です。この地区は、津波で多くの犠牲者や産業の被害が出たため、復興事業として県や政府が進めたものです。

December 12, 2020: Guiding foreign residents in Koriyama.

One of our members guided a walking tour in Koriyama for foreign residents. The tour focused on historic places including those designated as Japan Heritage. More information is in the video below. 郡山在住の外国人の方々に、市内の日本遺産などのウオーキングツアーをご案内しました。（2020年12月12日）ビデオをどうぞ。 --- video.

October 18, 2020: Guiding foreign residents in Koriyama.

One of our members guided foreign residents in Koriyama experience fun with Japanese style “moss ball making” and “tea ceremony “. More information is in the video below. 郡山在住の外国人の方々に、苔玉作りとお茶体験をご案内しました。（2020年10月18日）ビデオをどうぞ。 --- video.

June 20, 2020: Trekking through Urabandai.

  As the restrictions for Covid-19 were lifted across Japan last week, people started moving around and our group also slowly resumed our study activity outdoors as well. This was for the first time since March. Of course, the participants were vigilant taking all measures against the virus. This time, our destination was Urabandai, a great attraction area in the northern side of Mount Bandai, with lots of lakes, ponds, woods, and even falls. We enjoyed trekking through the area guided by a special local guide. A couple of ALT English teachers also attended the tour. In front of Onogawafudo Falls, we got a shower of negative ion as shown in a picture below.

2020年6月20日: 裏磐梯散策。

  日本では、先週新型コロナの規制が解除され人々が動き始め、我がグループも3月以来になりますが、屋外での活動を始めました。もちろん、コロナ対策をとりながらです。今回は裏磐梯で、沼あり湖あり森あり滝ありの人気スポットです。地元のガイドに教わりながら、県内のALT（英語）も加わり散策しました。小野川不動滝では、写真のようにたっぷりのマイナスイオンを浴びました。

Early February, 2020: Attending American YouTuber cover around Fukushima.

  A couple of our members attended American YouTuber crew covered through Aizu region, Iizaka Onsen, Koriyama City and others. It was a 5-day tour including Aizu Railway train ride, winter snowscape in Ouchijuku village, sake making experience, quality hot spring resorts, and local specialty foods. 2020年2月初旬: アメリカ人ユーチューバーの福島県取材に同行。

  当会のメンバー2人が、アメリカ人ユーチューバーの福島県取材に同行しました。南会津から始まり会津の各地域から、飯坂温泉、郡山市まで5日間かけて巡りました。会津鉄道に乗り、大内宿の冬景色、酒造体験、芦ノ牧温泉、飯坂温泉、円盤餃子など、最後は郡山駅前のビッグアイ展望台まで。下のリンクのユーチューブで詳細がご覧になれます。

October 26, 2019 (delayed report): Attending 100th anniversary event for Dr. Noguchi’s visit to Mexico.

  A 100th anniversary ceremony for Dr. Noguchi’s visit to Mexico was held at Inawashiro Town: home of Dr. Noguchi. More than 30 people attended the ceremony, including members from Japanese Mexican Society, Inawashiro Town, Dr. Noguchi Memorial Hall, etc. One of our members, who was born and raised in Fukushima and had strong business ties with Mexico during his career, organized this event. Several of our members also attended the ceremony to support the event.

2019年10月26日（報告遅れました）:野口博士メキシコ訪問100周年記念式典開催。

  野口英世博士のメキシコ訪問100周年記念式典が、博士の故郷の猪苗代町で開催されました。日墨協会、猪苗代町、野口英世記念館、などから30名以上の方が参列されました。福島県出身で仕事上メキシコと深い関わりのあった当会のメンバーが事務局になり、会員有志も後押して盛況に終わりました。

January 18, 2020: A cross-cultural study session in Fukushima.

  As our monthly group study, we had a cross-cultural study session in Fukushima City. We invited foreign speakers who work as English teachers in Fukushima Prefecture. In the morning, a couple of Filipinas, one who runs English conversation school in the city and the other who teaches English at the school. They talked about Filipino history, land and culture as well as their own language Tagalog and the local languages as well. In the afternoon, a Canadian speaker, who teaches English at a university in Koriyama, talked about religions worldwide, his thought about Japanese culture, and a variety of things in terms of English and Japanese languages. It was a both way communication and interaction where we leant a lot of diversity.

2020年1月18日: 福島市で異文化交流会。

  会の例会として、県内で英語教師をしている方々をお招きし、福島市で異文化交流会をしました。午前は、フィリピンからのお二人で、市内で英会話教室を運営している方と、そこで英語を教えている方です。フィリピンの歴史、国土、文化や共通言語（タガログ語）や方言など多彩に渡りました。午後は、郡山の大学で英語を教えているカナダ人で、世界の宗教、日本文化に対する考え、それに英語と日本語に関する様々な観点を話してもらいました。会話形式で進み、文化の多様性について大変勉強になりました。

Dec. 15, 2019: Fukushima City sights tour.

  As our monthly group study, we had a short daytime tour in Fukushima City. We visited historic sites such as an old play theater Hiroseza, Buddhist site Mochizuri Kannon which had been popular among haiku poets from old times, and others. Also, we stopped at Azuma Ball Stadium which hosts baseball and softball games for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The whole stadium was renovated including the field with brand new turfs. We are now prepared for guiding foreign visitors through the capital city of Fukushima Prefecture.

2019年12月15日: 福島市内の各所を巡る。

  会の月例会として、福島市内の名所を巡りました。まず、明治時代からの芝居小屋の旧広瀬座や、古くから俳人に人気だった文知摺観音、などを巡りました。その後、来年の東京オリンピックの野球、ソフトボールの会場となるあづま球場に行きました。施設全面リニューアルされ、グランドの芝生が新しくなっています。海外からのお客さんを、県庁所在地の福島市にご案内する準備ができました。

Nov. 27-28, 2019: Attending ambassador group’s Fukushima study tour.

  One of our members attended a group of ambassadors to Japan from 10 different countries for 2-day Fukushima study tour as an English guide. The tour covered Koriyama and Aizuwakamatsu, focusing on food safety and attractions in Aizu region. The tour first stopped at prefectural agriculture center in the northern outskirt of Koriyama, and then moved toward west to Aizuwakamatsu. They experienced fruit picking at apple farm there and finally stayed overnight at Ashinomaki hot spring resort in the south. The next day, their first stop was Aizu University which had very unique education program focused on computer and communication engineering as well as English training. Then, they stopped at several places such as Kaeigura sake brewery, Tsurugajo Castle, Oyakuen Garden, and Aizu clan school Nisshinkan. Not only visiting the places but they also experienced sake making process, trying kyudo or Japanese archery, and tasting a variety of food grown in Fukushima.

2019年11月27-28日: 駐日外交団の福島視察に同行。

  会のメンバーが、10カ国からの駐日外交団の福島県視察に英語ガイドとして同行しました。行程は郡山と会津若松で、食品安全と会津の魅力発信がテーマです。初日は、まず郡山の北にある県農業総合センターを訪問し、その後会津若松に向かいました。会津では、リンゴ狩りを体験され、夜は芦ノ牧温泉に宿泊されました。2日目は、最初会津大学を訪問し、ICTや英語教育に特化したユニークな大学で起業家とも話しをされました。その後、嘉永蔵、鶴ヶ城、御薬園、会津藩校日新館を訪ね、酒造りや弓道体験などをされ、また各所で福島食材を食されました。

Nov. 16, 2019: Sukagawa walking tour.

  As our monthly study workshop, we visited Sukagawa and had a daytime walking tour in the central part of the city. Godzilla and Ultraman, both of which were the brainchild of renowned special effect movie director Eiji Tsuburaya who was born in this town, were part of the main theme. We visited Eiji Tsuburaya Museum in the 5th floor of tette, a community building for the citizens, and heard a full story about the history. Then we moved to ShotM78 store just adjacent to tette. This was exactly his birthplace, where today they sell some related goods. And finally, we stopped at Basho Memorial Hall. Matsuo Basho was legendary haiku poet in the late 1600’s and he stayed at Sukagawa for 8 days during his long journey across Japan. An expert at the hall told us a story of Basho focusing on his haiku poems created in Sukagawa.

2019年11月16日: 須賀川ウオーキングツアー。

  会の月例の勉強会として、須賀川市街地のウオーキングツアーを実施しました。ゴジラとウルトラマンを生み出した、須賀川生まれの名特撮監督の円谷英二氏が最初のテーマです。まず、市中心部にあるコミュニティセンターのtetteの5階にある円谷英二ミュージアムで、氏の生涯や特撮について十分な説明を受けました。その後、tetteの隣に位置するShotM78というお店（ウルトラマンなどの商品を売っています）に行き、まさにここが監督の生誕の地でした。午後には、芭蕉記念館を訪ねました。松尾芭蕉は、江戸時代の俳聖ですが、「おくのほそ道」の旅で須賀川に8日滞在しています。記念館の専門の方から、須賀川滞在中の俳句などを中心に良いお話を聞くことができました。

Nov. 12-13, 2019: Attending hope tourism in coastal Hamadori region.

  A couple of our members attended hope tourism for March 11th disaster hit coastal Hamadori region as English translators. The tour was targeted at foreign media reporters from four different countries. The tour first stopped at Commutan Hall in Miharu, where they studied about radiation scientifically and also learned the latest situation of recovery after Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident occurred. Then they moved onto coastal towns of Tomioka, Namie, Hirono, and Naraha, where they learned a lot more from local people. TEPCO’s Decommissioning Archive Center and Naraha Remote Control Technology Development Center were also included in the tour.

2019年11月12-13日: 浜通りのホープツアに通訳同行。

  会のメンバー2人が、東日本大震災で過酷な被害を受けた浜通りのホープツーリズムに、通訳として同行しました。お客様は、4カ国からの海外メディアの方でした。ツアーは、まず三春町のコミュタンに寄り、放射線の科学的なことや福島第一原発事故からの回復状況を学びました。その後、沿岸部の富岡、浪江、広野、楢葉の各地を巡り地元の方達から多くのことを学びました。また、その間、東電の廃炉資料館や楢葉遠隔技術開発センターも訪問しました。

Sept. 28-Oct. 6, 2019: Attending FICC rally event at Hatoriko Kogen Heights.

  A couple of our members attended FICC or Fédération Internationale de Camping, Caravanning rally event in Fukushima, as English and French interpreters. The event took place at Hatoriko Kogen Heights in Ten-ei Village, Fukushima. Camping and caravanning fans from around the world gathered at the venue. The participants joined excursions to tourist destinations in Fukushima such as Tsurugajo Castle, Urabandai, and fruit farms. Or they enjoyed Fukushima’s proud quality sake. Some of them even had excursion to Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and studied the latest decommissioning progress.

2019年9月28日-10月6日: 羽鳥湖高原でのFICC大会の通訳。

  会のメンバー2人が、各々英語と仏語通訳として、福島県で行われたFICCオートキャンプ世界大会に同行しました。大会は、天栄村の羽鳥湖高原で行われ、世界のオートキャンプファンがここに集結しました。参加者は、県内の観光地、鶴ヶ城、裏磐梯、フルーツ狩りなどの訪問や、福島が誇るおいしいお酒を楽しみました。また、福島第一原発を訪問して、最新の廃炉の進捗を確認したりもしました。

Sept. 1, 2019: Attending Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize winners for Fukushima tour.

  One of our members attended a group of Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize winners and their families as a local English guide for their Fukushima tour. The winners were outstanding medical doctors each from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda in Africa. They have made great achievements over the past years including containment of Ebola outbreak in the region. The one-day Fukushima tour was travelling from Koriyama to Aizuwakamatsu stopping at Dr. Noguchi’s birthplace, memorial hall, and some of the related places in his youth. They also had local reception ceremonies at Inawashiro and Aizuwakamatsu. They had a great experience feeling atmosphere of where Dr. Noguchi was born and raised.

２０１９年9月1日：野口英世アフリカ賞 福島プログラムに同行。

  会のメンバーが、野口英世アフリカ賞受賞者の福島プログラムに英語ガイドとして同行しました。今年の受賞者は、アフリカのコンゴ民主共和国とウガンダからの医学博士各1名で、過去にエボラ出血熱の克服など世界的に優れた業績に贈られました。福島プログラムは、郡山から会津若松まで、野口博士の生家、記念館、それに手のやけどの手術をした昔の医院の建物（会津壱番館）、嘉永蔵などゆかりの地を訪ねました。また、その間地元の歓迎会も行われ、受賞者は野口博士の生まれ育った場所の空気を存分に感じたことと思います。

Aug. 27-28, 2019: Attending newspaper media crew from U.K. for coverage in Hamadori area.

  One of our members attended, as a translator, newspaper media crew from U.K. for 2-day coverage on the latest situation of Fukushima Daiichi decommissioning work and the reconstruction of surrounding areas. On the first day, they interviewed local people in Minamisoma, Namie, and Okuma, where some of the residents have returned to their home town as the evacuation orders were lifted sequentially over the past few years. The next day was Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant tour, located in Okuma, where the decommissioning work after the accident is underway. TEPCO provided the crew with the latest situation in progress.

2019年8月27-28日: 英新聞社の浜通り取材に通訳同行。

  会のメンバーが、英国の新聞社の取材チームに2日間、浜通り地区を通訳同行しました。初日は、避難解除が順次行われてきた南相馬、浪江、大熊の帰還した住民などにインタビューを行い、次の日は福島第一原発の廃炉状況の現場を確認しました。東電から最新の進捗状況の説明を受けました。

August 22, 2019: Sake study tour at Daishichi Sake Brewery.

  As our annual sake study session at Daishichi Sake Brewery, which was traditional sake brewery located in Nihonmatsu, we had in-depth study of sake making including video, brewery tour, and tasting, by courtesy of the brewery. Daisichi has kept its traditional Kimoto method to date for making quality starter culture or shubo. At the same time, it developed cutting-edge technology such as “Superflat Rice Polishing”. As a result, it provides extremely high-quality sake around the world today.

2019年8月22日：大七酒造さんでお酒の研修会。

  会の年恒例になりましたが、二本松の大七酒造さんのご厚意でお酒の研修会をしました。研修会では、ビデオや解説を初め、酒蔵ツアーや試飲まで深く勉強しました。大七さんは、伝統の生酛法で酒母をつくるのにこだわる一方で、最先端の超扁平精米技術を開発しました。その結果、今では世界各国に最高品質の日本酒を提供し続けています。

July 27-28, 2019: Attending a group of international students for traditional Soma Nomaoi Festival tour.

  One of our members, as a translator, attended a group of international university students from Europe for traditional Soma Nomaoi Festival tour in Soma region, Fukushima. The tour included such highlights as “Ogyoretsu” or armored samurai procession, “Kacchukeiba” or armed horse racing, and “Shinkisodatsusen” or mounted horsemen’s competition for winning sacred flags launched high up in the air. Also, they visited a local armor workshop where they could touch and wear traditional armor. They had full experience of the festival as well as interaction with local people.

2019年7月27-28日: 留学生の相馬野馬追ツアーに通訳同行。

  会のメンバーが、ヨーロッパからの大学留学生の相馬野馬追（相馬地方の伝統的なお祭り）ツアーに、通訳同行しました。祭りの主なイベントである、「御行列」、「甲冑競馬」、「神旗争奪戦」などを見学し、更に地元の甲冑工房を訪ねて、甲冑を触れたり着たりしました。祭りを堪能すると共に、地元の方とも交流しました。

July 20, 2019: Visiting the sights in Fukushima City and having cross-cultural study session.

  As our monthly group study, we visited Yuji Koseki Memorial Hall in the morning. Yuji Koseki (1909-1989) was an outstanding composer who was born in Fukushima City and wrote 5000 music including Olympic March for 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Also, we visited historic Iwaya Kannon site, just 5-minute walk away, where about 60 Buddha and Kannon statues were carved on natural rock walls. Then in the afternoon, we invited a couple of international guest speakers, each from the Netherlands and Canada, and shared their country’s culture and customs. We also talked about the difference between Japanese and their culture. In addition to the guest speakers, we also had 6 more international participants making the session an interesting cross-cultural communication.

2019年7月20日: 福島市の名所巡りと異文化交流会。

  会の月例会として、午前中に福島市の名所の1つの古関裕而記念館を訪ねました。古関裕而（1909-1989年）は、福島市生まれの著名な作曲家で生涯に5000曲もの作曲をしました。代表の1つは、1964年の東京オリンピックの入場行進に使われた「オリンピック・マーチ」です。また、そこから歩いて5分ほどに岩谷観音があります。約60躯の仏像や観音像が自然の岩肌に彫られた磨崖仏です。午後には、オランダとカナダからのゲストスピーカをお招きし、各々の国の文化や習慣を共有しまた。日本と各々の国の文化の違いについても会話しました。ゲストのほかにも、6名の外国人も参加し面白い異文化交流となりました。

June 26, 2019: Attending media crew from New Zealand for Fukushima Daiichi site tour.

  One of our members, as an interpreter, attended a media crew from New Zealand who wanted to shoot Fukushima Daiichi decommissioning site. TEPCO officials led the tour and it took about 6 hours. The site has made great progress in decontamination of radioactivity and 96% of the whole area was G zone where workers and visitors can go through with general clothing. But there were many restrictions to ensure the safety and security of nuclear power plant that were determined by law. We visited crippled reactor buildings from outside and saw part of the large-scale decommissioning work just underway. We also noticed multi-layered measures to prevent contaminated water to flow out of the premises including groundwater wells, storage tanks, and frozen soil walls. The amount of total radiation we got during the tour was well less than that of chest X-ray.

2019年6月26日: ニュージーラントからのメディアの福島第一原発廃炉取材に同行。

  会員の１人が、廃炉作業中の福島第一原発で、ニュージーランドからのメディア取材に通訳同行しました。TEPCO社員の引率で、約6時間かかりました。構内は、除染の効果が大きく効き、96%の面積が一般の服で通行できます。取材はそのエリアでしたが、法律で決められた安全保障上の規制がかなりあります。取材は、廃炉作業中の破損した原子炉建屋を外から見たり、放射能汚染水を外に出さないための多重の対策（地下水くみ上げ、貯蔵タンク、凍土壁、他）を実際に見たりしました。この間の放射線被曝は、胸部X線検査で受けるものよりかなり低い値でした。

June 9, 2019: Learning about Mexico and latest situation on Fukushima’s tourism.

  As our monthly group workshop, we had two study sessions today. In the morning, one of our members talked about his recent activity for connecting Mexico and Fukushima. Dr. Noguchi, who was world renowned bacteriologist from Fukushima, worked at Mexico in 1919, aiming to eradicate yellow fever epidemic at the time. Dr. Noguchi was highly respected by people of Mexico and the member, while he was in Mexico, held 100th anniversary event last year jointly with local Mexican-Japanese society. Now he is back in Japan and is aiming to hold a similar anniversary event at near Dr. Noguchi’s hometown in Fukushima. In the afternoon, we invited a former prefectural official and he talked about the latest tourism situation in Fukushima. Thanks to people from in and out of the prefecture, the number of tourists has almost recovered up to before the disaster in 2011. However, taking advantage of many attractions in the prefecture we still have a lot to do with new ideas and strategy to attract more tourists.

2019年6月9日: メキシコと福島の橋渡し、及び福島の観光について学ぶ。

  月例会として、本日は、2つの学習会をしました。午前は、メキシコ駐在だった会員が、メキシコと福島を繋ぐ活動について紹介がありました。福島出身の世界的細菌学者の野口英世は、1919年に当時流行していた黄熱病の撲滅にメキシコに渡りました。このため、現地の方からも尊敬されており、会員は現地の日墨協会と共に100周年のイベントを開催しました。現在、日本に戻り野口博士ゆかりの地で、同じようなイベントを計画しています。 午後の会には、元県職員の方をお招きし、観光の状況と今後の方針などについて、お話をして頂きました。県内外の方々のお陰様で、福島県を訪れる観光客は、震災前の近くまで戻っています。更に、福島県には数々の魅力がまだまだあり、今後の誘客はアイデアや戦略次第であることを再認識しました。

May 12, 2019: Cross-cultural workshop with international guest speakers.

  We had a monthly study session today, inviting international citizens living in Fukushima. At first, an English teacher for Japanese school children at Iitate Village, who was from Idaho, U.S., made his presentation on his home country, and talked about the difference of people's behavior between the U.S. and Japan in everyday life. Then a medical doctor from Bangladesh who was now studying further at Fukushima Medical University gave us his presentation mainly on his country’s history, religion (Islam), career and living. Some of his friends from Canada and Russia also attended. We had a great cross-cultural interaction with so many citizens from different countries understanding each other.

２０１９年５月１２日：海外からの市民をお招きして異文化交流会。

  月例会として、福島在住の海外からの市民をお招きして、異文化交流会を実施しました。まず、米国アイダホ出身で、現在飯舘村の学校で子供達に英語を教えている方が、故郷のことや、米国人と日本人の日々の生活での習慣の違いなどについて話してもらいました。次に、バングラデシュ出身の医師で、現在福島県立医大で更に勉強している方が、故郷の国の歴史、宗教（イスラム教）、仕事や生活について話してくれました。また彼のカナダの友人やロシアからの同僚達も参加されて、にぎやかな交流会となりました。

April 22, 2019: Attending British newspaper crew.

  One of our members attended British newspaper reporter and cameraman as an interpreter, for shooting a talk and an interview with March 11th disaster affected residents. It took place in Fukushima City involving the local prefectural government.

２０１９年４月２２日：英新聞社の取材通訳。

  会のメンバーが、英新聞社（記者とカメラマン）の取材に通訳として同行しました。東日本大震災の被災者の声とインタビューで、県の関係者と共に福島市で行われました。

April 14, 2019: Guiding practice in Koriyama.

  As our monthly group study, we carried out a guiding practice in Koriyama, inviting an adviser who was a multi-linguist from Barbados. Also a young English teacher from the U.S. and an international student from Bangladesh participated. The walking tour started from a landmark station building called Big-i and stopped at historic Asaka-kunitsuko Shrine, Nyohoji Temple and traditional tea ceremony house, with many cherry blossoms blooming along the way. After the tour we had feedback from the adviser and learned a lot which otherwise could not be aware of.

２０１９年４月１４日：郡山でガイド練習を実施。

  会の月例会として、バルバドス（カリブ海の英語圏の国）出身の市内で教師をされている方をアドバイザーとしてお招きし、郡山でガイド練習をしました。更に、米国からの若い英語教師や、バングラデシュからの留学生も参加して頂きました。ガイドツアーは、郡山駅前のランドマークのビッグアイからスタートし、見頃の桜の中を歩きながら、近くの由緒ある安積国造神社や如宝寺をまわり、伝統の御茶席も経験しました。その後、アドバイザーからフィードバックを受け、自分では気づかないような指摘を頂き終了しました。

March 25, 2019: Attending World Assembly for Women (WAW!) in Koriyama.

  A couple of our members attended WAW! Event held in Koriyama as English-Japanese translators. The main woman panelist came from the U.S. A Diet member and an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended. The theme was “addressing the social issues by women’s power”.

２０１９年３月２５日：郡山での「女性が輝く社会に向けた国際シンポジウム」に参加。

  会のメンバー２人が、郡山で開催された「女性が輝く社会に向けた国際シンポジウム」イベントに通訳（日英）として参加しました。米国からの女性がメインパネリストに、「女性の力で社会の課題を解決しよう！」をテーマに、日本の国会議員や外務省からも参加しました。

March 10, 2019: An inspiring intercultural study session.

  As our monthly group study, we invited a guest speaker from Fukushima Prefectural Office who was in charge of reconstruction of once evacuated municipalities. She made a presentation on the recent rehabilitation progress of the disaster affected area and the importance of hope tourism. We had a discussion on how we can avoid misleading translation or expression in English when it comes to the situation of nuclear plant accident and the local people’s real voices. Then in the afternoon session, a new member of our group who had a several years’ experience of JICA project at Dominican Republic made his presentation. His work was giving vocational training on auto repair to the Spanish speaking local people. Also we had a special attendee from Barbados today who spoke seven languages. The country is located in Caribbean. We had an inspiring intercultural communication and learning opportunity.

２０１９年３月１０日：福島復興の伝え方と異文化勉強会。

  会の月例会として、福島県庁の避難地域復興課からゲストをお招きし、最新の復興状況とそれを伝えるホープツーリズムの重要性について話をお聞きました。原発事故や住民の心を如何に誤解のないように英語通訳で伝えるか、について話し合いました。午後は、新会員で、ドミニカ共和国（カリブ海の国）でＪＩＣＡプロジェクトに関わった方の話を聞きました。スペイン語圏の現地で、自動車修理の技能教育に携わりました。また、本日はバルバドス（同じくカリブ海の国で英語圏）から、７ヶ国語ができる方も参加して、異文化の学習と交流ができ、啓発される１日でした。

January 20, 2019: Guest speakers from Mongolia and Fukushima Seishu Academy.

  As our monthly group study, we invited a couple of guest speakers each from different area and learnt a lot of things. In the morning, a young multilingual from Mongolia who runs a language school LINGUIST in Fukushima City gave us a presentation about his profile and much about his home country Mongolia. We learnt a lot about Mongolian culture. In the afternoon, a former instructor at Fukushima Seishu Academy, a sake making training school for sake brewers in Fukushima, gave us a presentation. Fukushima boasts the highest number of sake breweries which won gold medals in the national sake competition for the straight six years (2013-2018). Seishu Academy contributed largely for this achievement.

２０１９年１月２０日：モンゴル、及び福島県清酒アカデミーの方のお話を聞く。

 会の月例会として、本日は分野の違うお２人の方を講師にお迎えしました。午前は、モンゴル出身で、現在福島市で語学学校ＬＩＮＧＵＩＳＴの若手経営者のお話です。６か国語を話し、プロフィールや自国モンゴルの文化について語って頂きました。午後は、福島県清酒アカデミーで、県内の酒造を指導してこられた方のお話です。福島県は、全国の新酒鑑評会で６年連続（２０１３－２０１８年）、金賞受賞の酒蔵が最も多い栄誉に輝いており、これは清酒アカデミーのご指導のたまものです。

January 17, 2019: Studying about the latest status of Fukushima Daiichi and Okuma Town.

  Today, some of our members had a chance to visit Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant complex, the new TEPCO’s Decommissioning Archive Center, and the surrounding Okuma Town. We learned the latest decommissioning status of the power plant with our own eyes, which was steadily moving forward. A new archive center located in the adjacent Tomioka Town had many new displays telling us in details about the complicated engineering process and devices. We also passed by the vast Interim Storage Facility area surrounding the power plant, which were being built for the safe storage of decontamination soil in the prefecture. And finally we visited Ono Station of JR Joban Line, which was located in Okuma Town still under evacuation order, but was expected to resume operation by March next year. During this visit we felt a powerful momentum toward decommissioning and the reconstruction image of the town.

２０１９年１月１７日：１Ｆ原発と大熊町の状況を学ぶ。

  本日、会員の一部が福島第一原発（１Ｆ）構内、東電の新しい廃炉資料館と、周辺の大熊町の状況を現地学習しました。１Ｆ構内では、日々進む廃炉現場の最新状況を直接確認できました。また、近くの富岡町にある廃炉資料館では、進捗状況と共に廃炉に必要な最新技術やロボット装置の展示があります。その後、１Ｆを取り囲むように位置する中間貯蔵施設（大熊町）の傍を通り、除染土壌の処理を確認することができました。最後は、まだ閉鎖中で来年３月に再開予定のＪＲ大野駅に行き、避難解除前の町の状況を確認しました。全体として、廃炉への力強い動きを実感し、地域の今後の復興を思い描くことができました。

December 8, 2018: Studying about recent international students in Fukushima.

  As our monthly group study, we invited a director of international division at FSG College League based in Koriyama. An international student from Vietnam also attended. Currently more than 200 international students study at the college mainly from Southeast Asian countries. At first we had a lecture from the director about the latest situation of international students coming into Japan, particularly in Fukushima, and how they continue their career after graduation. Then we had intercultural talks with the female student from Vietnam who was now studying tourism. She studied Japanese in her home country and spoke excellent Japanese. We were impressed by her positive way of thinking as to how to pave the road toward the future. We expect that these excellent young people will support Fukushima, or anywhere else in Japan, or in their home countries.

２０１８年１２月８日：福島への海外留学生について学ぶ。

  月例会として、ＦＳＧカレッジリーグ（福島県郡山市に拠点を置く専門学校グループ）の国際部の方を講師にお招きしました。在学中の、ベトナムからの留学生も参加して頂きました。ＦＳＧには、現在２００人以上の、主に東南アジアからの海外留学生が在籍中です。最初、講師の方から、海外から日本（特に福島）への留学生の状況、卒業後の進路などについて説明を受けました。そのあと、ベトナムからの留学生で観光の勉強をしている女性の方も交え、異文化交流をしました。母国の大学で日本語を学んで来て、大変上手です。彼女の前向きに道を切り開いていこうとする考え方に魅かれました。このような方が今後、福島や国内、また母国において活躍することを期待します。

October 27-28, 2018: Attending a group of international students from Hiroshima.

  Some of our members attended a 3-day study tour for a group of 16 international students from Hiroshima University. Our main destination included Tomioka and Namie towns which were hit by a triple disaster 7.5 years ago but were lifted evacuation order 1.5 years ago and are now moving forward toward reconstruction. We visited several places in the area such as Reprun Fukushima which was a public communication facility for the final disposal site in Tomioka for contaminated waste, or Naraha Canvas which was a new local community center in Naraha. We also learned about the latest situation of Fukushima Daiichi using a precise scale model of the power plant complex. We stayed overnight at a new comfortable Tomioka Hotel with very nice and healthy meal. We heard from many local people and felt a powerful momentum and hope toward revitalization.

２０１８年１０月２７－２８日：広島大学留学生の浜通りツアーのガイドに参加。

  会員の一部が、広島大学の留学生１６名の３日間の浜通りホープツアーに、通訳ガイドとして参加しました。１年半前に避難解除され復興に向かって歩み始めている富岡町、浪江町、および周辺地域が対象です。例えば富岡町に新しくできた汚染物質の最終処分施設の情報館のリプルンふくしま、楢葉町の新しい地域交流センターならはCanvasを含め、何か所も巡りました。福島第一原発の最新状況も、精密な模型を使い説明と対話をしました。夜は、ＪＲ富岡駅前の最新の富岡ホテルに泊まり、ヘルシーでおいしい食事も頂きました。地域の方のお話もたくさん聞くことができ、復興への力強い勢いと希望を感じることができました。

Oct. 11, 2018: Attending Italian photographers on their visit to Hamadori region.

  One of our members attended a couple of Italian photographers who wanted to take pictures of tsunami hit coastal area which was now significantly recovered. We started from Soma in the north stopping at memorial hall and monument at Haragama, then traveled through Matsukawaura-Ohashi Bridge (reopened in 2017) and Osu-Matsukawa coastal road (reopened in 2018), and entered into Minamisoma. Traveling along the inland area also hit by tsunami they were interested in some trees which survived tsunami. Our final destination today was the new JR Tomioka Station.

２０１８年１０月１１日：イタリア人写真家を浜通りにご案内。

  会員の１人が、イタリア人写真家２人を津波被災地（現在はかなり復旧しています）にご案内しました。北の相馬市から出発し、慰霊碑（原釜）、松川浦大橋（２０１７年再開通）、大洲松川線（２０１８年再開通）、を通り南相馬に入ります。写真家は、津波が押し寄せた内陸部の一部の木々が津波に耐えて生き残っているのに興味をもったようです。最後は、再建されたＪＲ富岡駅まで行きました。

September 29, 2018: Guiding an Australian couple through Fukushima.

  One of our members attended an Australian couple through Fukushima for their one day tour in the prefecture. Their first stop was UFO Fureaikan in Fukushima City, which was a local interaction museum for UFO’s. Then they moved to Inawashiro Town in the south and visited a local winery and wine making workshop “Aizu”. These two destinations were of their choices and they received very warm welcome from all of the facility owners and manager. The connection of two different types of Shinkansen bullet trains at JR Fukushima Station also attracted their interest. Their last stop was Noguchi Memorial Hall at Inawashiro, which featured Dr. Noguchi who appears on the Japanese1000-yen note.

２０１８年９月２９日: オーストラリア人ご夫妻を県内ご案内。

  会のメンバーが、福島県を訪れたオーストラリア人ご夫妻を１日のツアーに通訳ガイドしました。最初の訪問先は、福島市のＵＦＯふれあい館です。次に、猪苗代町に移動し、ワイン工房あいづを訪ねました。この２ヶ所は何れもお客様のご希望で、何れも現地で手厚いおもてなしを受けました。また、福島駅での２種の新幹線の連結にも、興味を持たれていました。最後に訪れたのは、千円札に顔が載っている野口博士の、野口英世記念館でした。

August 24, 2018: Extra study occasion for learning sake at Daishichi Sake Brewery.

  Today, we had an intensive study opportunity of learning sake by courtesy of Daishichi Sake Brewery which was founded in 1752 at Nihonmatsu. We first had an English lecture by a company executive of Daishichi on basic sake brewing process including traditional Kimoto method of making starter culture. Daishichi keeps this tradition for making all of its quality sake, while at the same time developing state-of-the-art rice polishing and other techniques. The company president guided us through the brewery with detailed explanation. Finally we had a tasting, making it clear how the difference of sake rice and making process affects the taste. It was a great opportunity for us to learn the basics of sake as well as Daishichi identity.

２０１８年８月２４日: 大七酒造さんでお酒の特別学習。

  本日は、二本松の大七酒造さん（１７５２年創業）のご厚意で、日本酒の勉強をさせて頂きました。最初、会社幹部の方（オランダ人）から英語で、お酒造りの基本から伝統的な生酛造りまで説明を受けました。会社は、この伝統を今日まで守りつつ、同時に革新的な精米技術の開発などもしてきました。次に、社長さんから酒蔵の詳しい説明を受けながら見学しました。最後は利酒で、酒米や製法の差で味の違いを確認し、会員にとってお酒の基本と大七さんの特徴を学んだすばらしい機会でした。

August 19, 2018: Guiding practice at Commutan Fukushima in Miharu Town.

  Today, we had a regular monthly study at Miharu Town which attracts great many tourists during April every year for its gigantic thousand-year-old Takizakura and other gorgeous cherry trees. In the morning we shared each other recent guiding activities, at the town’s modern interaction center Mahora located in the center of the town. After having delicious local specialty Miharu Somen noodle lunch in the neighborhood, we moved to Commutan Fukushima which was Fukushima Prefecture’s environmental communication facility. An expert guided us through the facility focusing on the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident 7 years ago and up-to-date recovery status of the prefecture since then, as well as scientific facts about radiation in our everyday environment everywhere. We also practiced English translation with foreign residents from the U.S. and Canada attended.

２０１８年８月１９日: 三春のコミュタン福島でガイド練習。

  本日は、毎年４月に滝桜など華麗な桜の花で多くの観光客を魅了する三春町で例会を実施しました。午前中は、町の中心部にある交流館まほらで、ガイド活動などをシェアしました。近くで、おいしい特産の三春そうめんのランチを頂いたあと、福島県の環境交流館コミュタン福島に移動。そこで専門家に、７年前の福島第一原発事故を中心に、最新の復興のデータや、地球上の日常の環境にある放射線の科学的データなどの説明を受け、カナダと米国からのＡＬＴさんの前で通訳練習もしました。

July 31, 2018: Guiding high school students from UK at Commutan Fukushima.

  A couple of our group members attended a joint group of high school students from UK and Fukushima High through the tour at Commutan Fukushima facility in Miharu Town. About 30 high school students from different parts in UK visited Fukushima today to participate in joint science workshop together with students from Fukushima High School which was designated as a Super Science High School. We guided them through the tour inside Commutan in groups explaining in English about the latest recovery status of Fukushima since the March 11th triple disaster, and how the nuclear plant accident happened using a scale model of the nuclear plant just after the accident. Then we moved to Radiation Lab corner and they studied about the natural radiation using cloud chamber, spark chamber, and radiation shielding game.

２０１８年７月３１日: コミュタン福島で、英国からの高校生に説明。

  会のメンバー２人が、三春町にあるコミュタン福島で、英国からの高校生と、福島高校生の合同グループのガイドをしました。英国からの高校生３０名は，本日福島で、スーパーサイエンスハイスクール指定を受けた福島高校生と一緒に、ここで科学の研修会をしました。我々は、班に分かれ、コミュタン福島内を英語でガイドし、震災からの福島の復興の現状や、事故直後の福島第一原発の模型を使い当時の状況を説明しました。そのあと、放射線ラボで、霧箱、放電箱、放射線遮蔽ゲームなどで自然放射線について説明し，理解を深めました。

July 8, 2018: Study on Soma Nomaoi guiding and decommissioning status at 1F.

  As our monthly group study, we had two different kinds of study sessions at Koriyama. In the morning hours, we had an intensive study session on Soma Nomaoi Festival, which was a traditional festival of Soma region passed down from more than 1000 years ago making it a national important cultural asset. The festival for this year is scheduled July 28-30. A couple of our members from the region made in-depth explanation about the history and how the local people supported the festival. In the afternoon, a lecturer from AFW, who was a former TEPCO employee, gave us information on the latest decommissioning status at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. This will be important when we talk about the plant and the status to foreign visitors to Fukushima.

２０１８年７月８日: 相馬野馬追祭りと、福島第一原発廃炉の学習。

  会の月例会として、種類の違った学習を２つしました（郡山）。午前中は、７月２８－３０日に迫った相馬野馬追です。主な会場の南相馬出身の会員２名により、詳細な歴史や、地元の方々がどうかかわってきたかの説明がありました。千年以上の歴史があり、国の重要無形文化財に指定されています。午後は、東電の元社員でもあり、現在はＡＷＦの代表の方を講師にお招きし、福島第一原発の廃炉の最新状況の説明を受けました。福島に来られる外国の方にとって、重要な情報になります。

June 25, 2018: Attending a family trip from the United States.

  A member of our group attended a family trip from the United States during a tour in Fukushima Pref. The 4-member family visited Japan for 10 days, starting from Tokyo and Nikko. Their destination in Fukushima was Aizuwakamatsu, spending a whole half day visiting iconic places such as Tshurugajo Castle, Nisshinkan School and Bukeyashiki residence site. All the family members were moved by tragic samurai stories 150 years ago. They also enjoyed kyudo or Japanese archery experience. They finally stayed overnight at nearby Higashiyama Onsen hot spring resort.

２０１８年６月２５日: アメリカからの家族旅行に通訳ガイド。

  メンバーの１人が、アメリカからの家族旅行に、福島の通訳ガイドとして同行しました。ご家族（４人）は、１０日間の日程で日本を訪れ、東京や日光のあと、福島の会津若松に入られました。鶴ヶ城、旧藩校の日新館、武家屋敷などをご案内し、半日フルに過ごされ、その夜は東山温泉に泊まられました。特に、幕末の武士の悲劇（白虎隊、西郷頼母）に心を動かされ、また弓道体験もされました。

June 20, 2018: Attending a business meeting at Koriyama.

  One of our members attended a business meeting on whisky import at Koriyama as an English translator. A foreign businessman visited a distiller in Koriyama for his business meeting on importing whisky products. He took plenty of time for in-depth distillery tour as well as for detailed discussion on distribution. Fukushima is now popular worldwide with its wide range of high quality sake products, taking advantage of its good natural water and climate. These are common for making whisky.

２０１８年６月２０日：　郡山でウイスキー商談の通訳。

 　当会のメンバーが、海外から来られたウイスキー輸入業者の、商談通訳（英語）をしました。依頼者は、郡山のウイスキー蒸溜会社（日本酒もやっています）を訪れ、蒸溜所の詳しい見学と、輸入商談をしました。福島県のおいしい日本酒は、今、国内・海外で高い評価を受けていますが、その元になっている良質の水や気候は、ウイスキーにも共通するところです。

May 13, 2018: Great experience of Minamiaizu by Aizu Railway train.

  As our monthly group study, we had a great experience of day trip to Minamiaizu, a southern mountainous area of Aizu region. There is direct limited express train service “Revaty” to this area four times a day from Asakusa, Tokyo, which is a popular spot for foreign travelers. Our destination today was Okuaizu Museum, located about 15-minute walk from Sansondojo Station of Aizu Railway. We had a wonderful train ride through the best fresh greenery of this season from either Aizuwakamatsu or Asakusa Station. Okuaizu Museum houses more than 3,000 local people’s tools and appliances for living in the old days and most of them are designated as National Important Cultural Assets. Old farmer’s houses and Sannojaya teahouse stood in the outdoors, which were moved and recovered in here. A curator explained us about the details and we also had translation training. It was amazing that Isabella Bird, a famous English woman, traveled through this remote district back in 1878 shortly after Japan reopened its doors to the world.

２０１８年５月１３日: 会津鉄道で南会津の歴史探訪。

  会の月例会として、南会津に行きました。ここは、外国人に人気の東京・浅草から、直通の特急Revatyが、１日４往復走っています。今日の目的地は、奥会津博物館で、会津鉄道の山村道場駅から徒歩１５分ほどです。会員は、会津若松または浅草から、新緑の盆地や山間の景色を楽しみながら行きました。奥会津博物館は、江戸時代を中心とした民具など、３０００点以上を保存・展示していて、この地域の歴史や生活がよくわかります。そのほとんどは、国の重文に指定されています。屋外には、農家や山王茶屋などの当時の建物が、移築・復元されています。研究員の説明を受けながら、通訳練習もしました。明治維新間もない１８７８年に、英国人女性、イザベラ・バードが、この山間の地域を旅したのは驚きです。

April 25-26, 2018: Attending a TV crew at Ebisu Circuit, Nihonmatsu.

  One of our members attended a Japanese TV crew for 2-day coverage of Ebisu Circuit in Nihonmatsu. Ebisu Circuit, located on the foot of Mt. Adatara, is a paradise for drift riding fans, where enthusiasts from around the world can enjoy drift driving or take a drift taxi on the circuit. It became more and more popular for foreigners in recent years. The crew made interviews to foreign visitors from Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and others, while our member translated from English to Japanese and vice versa.

２０１８年４月２５－２６日: 二本松のエビスサーキットでＴＶ取材に通訳同行。

  会のメンバーが、二本松にあるエビスサーキットで、日本のテレビ取材班に２日間、通訳同行しました。エビスサーキットは、安達太良山の麓にあり、車のドリフト走行を楽しむメッカであり、近年世界中からのファンのお客が増えています。取材チームは、本会の英語通訳者を介し、アイルランド、ニュージーランド、オーストラリア、シンガポールなどからのお客さんに、インタビュー取材をしていました。

April 17, 2018: Attending a family trip from Indonesia.

  A member of our group has attended a family from Indonesia. This was their 6th visit to Japan. The purpose this time was cherry blossoms viewing in Fukushima and Yamagata Prefectures. The guide picked them up at a hotel near JR Koriyama Station and guided the family through some of the famous cherry trees in the neighborhood using a sightseeing taxi. After having buffet lunch at Miharu Herb Garden Restaurant, they took JR Ban-etsu East Line train to Kanmata Station and visited Abukuma Limestone Cave. They enjoyed a tour inside the cave including a fantastic Takinegoten space. Finally, they returned to Koriyama Station ending a happy day in Fukushima.

２０１８年４月１７日: インドネシアからの家族旅行に通訳ガイド。

  メンバーが、インドネシアからの家族旅行に通訳ガイドとして同行しました。ご家族は、６回目の来日で、今回は桜の花見を中心に、福島と山形を巡ります。ＪＲ郡山駅近くのホテルでピックアップし、観光タクシーで、見頃な周辺の桜の名木を見て廻りました。三春ハーブ花ガーデンで昼食のあと、磐越東線で神俣駅に行き、あぶくま洞を訪ねました。洞内ツアーでは、滝根御殿など見るべき箇所がたくさんあります。福島でのたのしい１日を過ごし、郡山駅でお見送りしました。

April 16-17, 2018: Attending an inbound monitor tour of the central region.

  A couple of our members have attended an inbound monitor tour for foreign tourists visiting central parts of Fukushima, as English and Chinese interpreter each. On the first day we welcomed the tourists’ group at JR Koriyama Station and guided through some of the famous cherry trees in the neighborhood, attraction sites like Takashiba Dekoyashiki folk craft workshops and Fukushima Gainax animation studio. On the second day, we visited Forest Park Adatara in Otama, Asaki Beer Community Hall, Janohana Garden, and a local brewery all in Motomiya, before they left JR Koriyama Station by Shinkansen train.

２０１８年４月１６－１７日: 中部インパウンドモニタツアーの英中通訳同行。

  メンバー２人が、福島の中部地域を巡るインバウンドモニターツアーに，各々英語と中国語の通訳として２日間同行しました。初日は、ＪＲ郡山駅でお客さんをお迎えし、近隣の桜の名木、高柴デコ屋敷、福島ガイナックス（アニメスタジオ）などを巡りました。２日目は、大玉村のフォレストパークあだたら、本宮市のアサヒビール園、蛇の鼻園、地元の酒蔵を巡り、最後は，郡山駅新幹線口にお見送りしました。

April 13-17, 2018: Attending Cherry Blossom Tour from Singapore.

  Some of our members have attended Cherry Blossom Tour for 19 tourists from Singapore. Many of them were frequent travelers to Japan but it was their first time to come over to Fukushima. Ouchijuku was the first stop in Fukushima. Then, viewing best cherry blossoms at Yunokami Onsen Station, they headed to Aizuwakamatsu where they stayed the first night at Higashiyama Onsen hot spring resort. In the next morning, they enjoyed walking around Hanamiyama Park, viewing flower tree blossoms still remaining at this time. In the afternoon, they moved to Tsurugajo Castle site and fully enjoyed the best cherry blossoms of the season. The next morning they moved to Niigata Prefecture and returned to Fukushima in the evening. On the 4th day in Fukushima (April 16), they first visited Hanamomo-no-sato in Iizaka, where peach tree blossoms were in best season. Then, they moved to Shikinosato attraction site, where they had a great experience of making their own original wooden Kokeshi dolls. In the afternoon, they moved to Daishichi Brewery in Nihonmatsu and had a great brewery tour as well as tasting experience. On the next day (April 17) all of the guests departed from Narita Airport and returned home safely.

２０１８年４月１３－１７日: シンガポールからの花見ツアーに通訳ガイドとして同行。

  メンバー３名（現地サポート２名含む）で、シンガポールからの１９名のお客様の花見ツアーに通訳ガイド同行しました。日本へは、たびたびこられているお客様ですが，今回福島は初めてです。初日は、大内宿のあと、見頃になっていた湯野上温泉駅の桜並木をみて、会津若松の東山温泉で泊。次の日は、午前に花見山見学のあと、午後は見頃満開の鶴ヶ城を楽しみました。次の朝は、新潟に移動し、夕方にまた福島に戻り。４日目は、午前中、飯坂の花ももの里で、見頃の花ももの花見をし、そのあと四季の里で、土湯こけしの絵付け体験をしました。午後は、二本松の大七酒造で、酒蔵見学と試飲。次の日、成田空港にお見送りし，全員無事帰国されました。

April 16, 2018: Attending a group from Singapore at Daishichi Brewery.

  An English interpreter of our group has attended a tourists’ group from Singapore through a brewery tour at Nihonmatsu. The brewery specialized in traditional method of sake making process called “kimoto” method. They had a chance of hearing from the president about many precious awards won to date. At sake tasting time the president explained how the difference was made depending on the variety of sake rice and the brewing process. The tourists had a great time enjoying sake.

２０１８年４月１６日: シンガポールからのお客様に、大七酒造で通訳同行。

  英語通訳メンバーが、シンガポールから二本松の大七酒造を訪れたお客様団体に、通訳同行しました。日本古来の生酛づくりの手法を得意としており、社長さんから、これまで受けた賞などの説明も受けました。試飲では、酒米や醸造方法による味の違いなども説明してもらいました。お客さんは、大変満足しているようでした。

April 13, 2018: Attending a French trainees’ group at Daishichi Brewery.

  A French interpreter of our group has attended a French trainees’ group for a brewery tour in Nihonmatsu. The 6-member group from Normandy, France visited Japan mainly for studying trade and industry. They wanted to study and experience Fukushima’s quality sake, which has won the highest number of gold medals in the national competition for fifth straight years. We had a tour of sake making process, heard a talk by the president and finally had a tasting experience.

２０１８年４月１３日: 大七酒造で、フランス人研修生の通訳。

  仏語通訳のメンバーが、二本松の酒造会社を訪れたフランス人研修生に通訳同行しました。ノルマンディー地方から来られた６名の方で、貿易や産業を学びにきました。５年連続で金賞獲得日本一となった福島の酒造を学びたいとのことで、酒蔵ツアーで社長さんのお話もお聞きし、試飲も経験しました。

April 1, 2018: Guiding an American through tsunami affected Hamadori area.

  A couple of our members have attended an American professor of architecture who usually works in Germany. He once had a group tour before through the tsunami affected region but he wanted to visit the sites again taking some time for photographs. We used a rental car and picked him up at JR Iwaki Station and guided him through many of recovered sites like new JR Tomioka Station and Ukedo fishing port as well as old Ukedo Elementary School ruins on the coastal ground. Then we moved to Kibo-no-makiba ranch in Namie, where a cattle famer continued to take care of cattle left in the evacuation zone since the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident occurred. The client made an interview to the cattle farmer. We finally returned to JR Iwaki Station.

２０１８年４月１日: アメリカ人を津波被災地にご案内。

  メンバー２人が、アメリカ人（ドイツで建築学の教授をされている）の通訳ガイドをしました。彼は、以前ツアーで津波被災地を巡りましたが、再度よく見たいとのご希望です。レンタカーで、ＪＲいわき駅でピックアップし、新装再開したＪＲ富岡駅や、復旧した請戸漁港を見て回り、沿岸部にそのままになっている旧請戸小も見ました。次に、浪江町の希望の牧場を訪ねました。原発事故以来、畜産農家が、避難区域においておかれた家畜の世話をしている場所で、その農家の方にインタビューもしました。最後は、いわき駅に戻り終了しました。
